The radial fan shown above was developed for ebm-papst. It is now used world-wide in the medical industry for assisted pulmonary ventilation to safe lifes.

To improve patient comfort, the aerodynamic design is highly optimized for efficiency and low noise. This is achieved by a dedicated blade loading strategy, splitter blades and a particular volute. The associated research was presented at ASME Turbo Expo.
